Body
ANALYSIS:
The City of Corona Purchasing Division solicited bids from qualified, licensed dirt excavation and removal contractors for the Cota Lincoln Percolation Ponds Maintenance Project. The Department of Water and Power will be overseeing this project.
DWP utilizes the three percolation ponds for reclaimed water from City of Corona Water Reclamation Facility No. 1, and Water Reclamation Facility No. 2. To maintain percolation, ponds are ripped annually and soils from bottom of basins are removed approximately every 10 years. The Ponds are currently at their tenth year since the last soil removal. In order to maintain efficient percolation, one foot of soil from the bottom of each pond needs to be removed.
The bid for the needed pond work was advertised in the Sentinel Weekly News on May 9, 2018 and posted on the City’s website. In addition, the City solicited three (3) contractors known to provide such services. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on May 15, 2018 with four (4) contractors in attendance. Three (3) contractors submitted bids by the May 31, 2018 bid due date and time.
