EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This staff report asks the City Council to approve the emergency repairs and cleaning of the Corona Police Department Shooting Range. These repairs are needed to remove and mine the lead from the facility that has accumulated from the firing of ammunition. The current condition of the range poses a significant health concern to staff and officers due to the amount of lead particles found in the range.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council:

a. Approve the issuance of a Purchase Order in the amount of $79,664.07 to HCI for the emergency repair and cleaning of the Corona Police Department Shooting Range pursuant to Corona Municipal Code Section 3.08.130(A).

b. Authorize an appropriation in the amount of $79,664.07 from the General Fund 110 to the Facility Maintenance Operating Budget within the Community Services Department.

BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
The City of Corona's current shooting range is located at Corporation Yard and is operated by the Corona Police Department (PD) to allow for a safe and controlled environment for officer training. The range has begun to show its age and is in need of several repairs to ensure the safety of staff and its officers. Repairs are needed to remove and mine the lead from the facility that has accumulated from the firing of ammunition. In addition, the range requires a significant amount of rubber infill to protect the staff and absorb the ammunition at the back of the range. These repairs are necessary to bring the range back to its original operating condition and provide a safe working environment.
