City Council and Corona Housing Authority consideration to receive and approve the submittal of the 2017 Housing Element Annual Progress Report to the California Department of Housing and Community Development, and the low and moderate income housing asset fund activity information required in accordance with Health and Safety Code 34175.1(f) for the previous fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the:
1. City Council receive and approve the submittal of the 2017 Housing Element Annual Progress Report to the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
2. Corona Housing Authority receive and approve the low and moderate income housing asset fund activity information required in accordance with Health and Safety Code 34176.1(f) (1-11) for the previous fiscal year ending June 30, 2017.

ANALYSIS:
Pursuant to California Government Code Section 65400, Annual Progress Reports (APR) regarding the City's adopted Housing Element must be made to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD). Each year the report covers the period of the preceding calendar year. Compliance with this reporting requirement enables the City to apply for various types of grant funding that could be available through the state.
HCD has implemented an online reporting system for jurisdictions to report their progress toward the programs contained within their Housing Elements. In the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) region, the 2017 reporting year is shown as Year 5 in the Fifth Housing Element Cycle (2013-2021) of Exhibit 1.
