City Council consideration to accept Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding for the hydroseeding of the Canyon Fire burn scar area within LMD 84-2 Zone 10; to appropriate $32,700 from Landscape Maintenance District 84-2 Zone 10 (Fund 460) for the same; and to adopt Resolution No. 2018-051 designating authorized agents to act on behalf of the City for the purpose of obtaining state and federal funding from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency for disaster assistance matters.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council:

1. Accept $24,525 in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding provided by the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CAL-OES) on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the hydroseeding of the Canyon Fire burn area behind Dominguez Ranch Road in Landscape Maintenance District (LMD) 84-2 Zone 10 (Project).

2. Appropriate $32,700 from LMD 84-2 Zone 10 Fund 460 for the above-mentioned project, and increase revenue projections by $24,525 for reimbursement through the HMGP program.

3. Adopt Resolution No. 2018-051 designating the Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, Police Chief, Police Captain, Emergency Services Coordinator, and General Manager as authorized agents for the purpose of obtaining state and federal funding from the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The recent Canyon Fire burned 2,662 acres, heavily impacting our City. Some of these burned areas have highly erosive soils on very steep slopes, including LMD 84-2 within Zone 10.
