Recommended action

Body

ANALYSIS:

Senate Bill 1305, as amended by Assembly Bill 162, requires retail suppliers of electricity to disclose its sources of energy being used to the California Energy Commission (CEC) and to consumers in the form of the Power Source Disclosure Annual Report and the Power Content Label.  The intent of the Power Content Label is to provide consumers with accurate, reliable, and simple-to-understand information on the sources of energy being used.

As a requirement of Assembly Bill 162, the information contained within the Power Source Disclosure Program Report and the Power Content Label must be validated through an independent or thirty-party audit.  The Administrative Manager of the Department of Water and Power (DWP), an authorized agent of DWP, may submit to the CEC, under penalty of perjury, an attestation confirming the accuracy of the report.  The City Council, at a public meeting, must approve the submission of such attestation.

The 2017 Power Source Disclosure Program Report and the Power Content Label has been submitted to the CEC. In addition, the Power Content Label have been posted on DWP’s website for consumers to review at <https://www.coronaca.gov/government/departments-divisions/department-of-water-and-power/customer-care/services/electric-services-rates>
