The City of Corona Police Department has applied for and received approval for the 2018 Bulletproof Vest Partnership program, or BVP funding.

The City of Corona has certified a “mandatory-wear” body armor policy for all uniformed officers, as required for application of the grant.  The Bulletproof Vest Partnership will fund up to 50 percent of the cost of each qualifying vest purchased or replaced by law enforcement applicants.  Only vest models that comply with the requirements of the Office of Justice Programs’ National Institute of Justice, or NIJ, and are purchased after April 1, 2018 may be purchased with 2018 grant funds.  The program requires that the applicant jurisdiction be responsible for providing at least 50 percent of the cost of each qualifying vest purchased. The reimbursement period ends August 31, 2020.
