Title

City Council consideration of an appropriation of $85,000 from the Library Facilities and Collection Fee Fund to purchase books, audio-visual materials, and electronic resources to be added to various Corona Public Library collections.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Recommended action                     

That the City Council appropriate $85,000 from the Library Facilities and Collection Fee Fund to purchase resources to expand the Corona Public Library’s various collections.

 

Body

ANALYSIS:

Residential Development Impact Fees are established to offset the impact that new development has on a variety of City services.  Library Facilities and Collection Fee Funds are collected specifically to offset the cost of an increase in the demand for the Corona Public Library’s various physical, electronic, and other collections.  The funds accumulated in the account are to be used solely to purchase and process library materials.  These funds, in addition to general fund dollars, donations from Friends of the Corona Public Library, and individual donations, comprise the Corona Public Library’s total materials budget.

Not applicable.

 

STRATEGIC PLAN:

This item supports the City’s Strategic Plan Goal 4: “Actively engaging in public and private partnerships to provide services and amenities.”

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

The recommended action will result in an appropriation of $85,000 from the available fund balance in the Library Facilities and Collection Fee Fund (Fund 206) to the Library Materials project (63900).

 

Upon approval of the recommended action, funding for this project will be available in the Fiscal Year 2018-19 Capital Improvement Plan Budget as follows:

 

 

ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS:

No environmental review is required because the proposed action is not a project governed by the California Environmental Quality Act.
