City Council consideration of acceptance of a $50,000 in-kind playground grant from Kompan Inc., a $50,000 matching funds donation from the Corona Parks Foundation and an appropriation of an additional $50,000 from the General Fund to the capital improvement project titled "Lincoln Park ADA Playground Improvements."

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council:
1. Accept the $50,000 in-kind playground grant from Kompan Inc.
2. Accept the $50,000 matching funds donation from the Corona Parks Foundation and increase revenue estimates by $50,000 in the General Fund for Donations.
3. Appropriate $50,000, in the General Fund, to the capital improvement project titled "Lincoln Park ADA Playground Improvements."

ANALYSIS:
The playground equipment at Lincoln Park was originally installed in 1985. At 34 years the equipment is beyond its useful life, which is typically 25 years for playground equipment. Over the years, some of the playground equipment at Lincoln Park became unusable and was removed due to a lack of replacement part availability. City of Corona ("City") staff began looking for funding sources for the replacement of the equipment at Lincoln Park, and subsequently applied for a grant from Kompan Inc. The Kompan grant required a $50,000 funding match. The City turned to its long-time partner, the Corona Parks Foundation ("CPF"), for assistance. CPF in turn pledged to provide funding for this grant in the amount of $50,000. CPF is a local non-profit organization. Since 1993, CPF has been raising funds to enhance the quality of life in the City by promoting and providing parks and recreation amenities and programs for citizens of all ages.
