EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City of Riverside Office of Emergency Management requires that the City Council adopt a resolution to approve the Memorandum of Understanding for the Urban Areas Security Initiative Grant Program. This program provides funding to assist Urban Areas in support of terrorism preparedness.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 2021-052 approving the Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Riverside Office of Emergency Management for the Urban Areas Security Initiative Grant Funding for Federal Fiscal Year 2020.

BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
In June 2019, the Police Department applied for a grant from the State of California Office of Emergency Services through the City of Riverside for the Riverside Urban Areas Security Initiative Program to fund a video analytic program as a resource available to partner agencies within the region. The Police Department application was approved, and the award letter was received in April 2021.

This program assists high-threat, high-density Urban Areas in efforts to build and sustain the capabilities necessary to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism using the Whole Community approach. The program is intended to provide financial assistance to address the unique multi-discipline planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs in our region.
