Recommended action
That the City Council receive an informational report and update on the Electric Rate & California Energy Commission (CEC) Plug-In Electric Vehicle (PEV) Grant Study and prior contract award.

ANALYSIS:
On May 6, 2015, the City Council accepted a grant from the California Energy Commission's (CEC) Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program (ARFVTP) in the amount of $275,078. This grant was awarded to the City of Corona Department of Water and Power (DWP) to fund the development of residential electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) installation best practices and rate structures to help support the growing demand for electric vehicles (EV) and increase the awareness of the availability, location, cost and charging voltages of the City's electric vehicle charging stations. The grant would assist the DWP in assessing its current electric infrastructure in the Dos Lagos residential area and its readiness to accept the future anticipated demand for at-home electric vehicle charging stations.
Subsequently, DWP issued Request for Proposal (RFP) 17-011CA, which was for the grant funded project as well as to perform a cost of service study for the DWP electric utility rates. RFP 17-011CA was awarded to Leidos Engineering, LLC (Leidos) of Reston, VA, at the City Council meeting held on March 1, 2017 in the amount of $197,240.
