RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council authorize a $34,643 budget transfer from the Police Department's Animal Shelter Relocation capital project (CIP 67060) into the Animal Shelter Play Yard capital project (CIP 72410), both within the General Fund.

Body
ANALYSIS:
In September 2015, the City of Corona completed construction to renovate and convert the former Public Work's warehouse located at 1330 Magnolia Avenue into the new Corona Animal Shelter on 1.49 acres with a 5,555 square foot facility. Phase I was successfully completed and it included the plans, design, construction, furniture, fixtures of enclosing and creating a public lobby, offices, conference room, break area, indoor/outdoor kennels, landscaping, and other items.

Later in 2017, Phase II of the work provided for planning, design, construction, of additional flooring, ceiling, centralized air system and lighting in the warehouse area, as well as, other outside work area items that needed to be addressed in the kennel area.

The total budget for Phase I and Phase II was $3.2M, currently, there is $34,643 remaining in the project after all the approved work was completed. The Police Department is requesting to transfer this remaining balance into the Animal Shelter Play Yard capital project.

The Police Department is proceeding with designing a play / socialization yard at the Animal Shelter facility that would allow the animals to have more room to exercise and socialize, not only with potential adoption individuals and families, but with other animals as well.
