RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council adopt Resolution No. 2018-094 approving the acceptance of the City of Corona Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex from the Riverside County Operational Area Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan as required by the Federal Disaster Mitigation and Cost Reduction Act of 2000.

ANALYSIS:
The Disaster Mitigation and Cost Recovery Act of 2000 amended the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act by placing new emphasis on hazard mitigation planning.
The City of Corona is concerned about mitigating potential losses and potential mitigation measures to limit loss.
The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all jurisdictions to be covered by a Local Hazard Mitigation Plan to be eligible for Federal Emergency Management Agency post-disaster funds.
An earlier version of the Riverside County Operational Area Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan was formally adopted on September 3, 2013. In 2016, the City of Corona Fire Department participated in the development of the update to the Riverside County Operational Area Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan and the City of Corona Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Annex.
The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services has reviewed the updated Plan on behalf of the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Formal adoption of the Plan by City Council of the City of Corona is required before final approval of the Plan can be obtained from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
