EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Program Grant provides funding to assist states and local governments in enhancing and sustaining emergency management capabilities in preparing for all hazards that might be faced by a community. The Fiscal Year 2020 U.S. Department of Homeland Security grant was awarded to the City of Corona in the amount of $149,549.

RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Recommended action
That the City Council:

a. Authorize the submittal for and acceptance of Fiscal Year 2020 U.S. Department of Homeland Security Program Grant award in the amount of $149,549.

b. Approve an appropriation and estimated revenue increase of $149,549 in the General Fund for the Fire Department to sustain and support its specialized Response Teams, Community Emergency Response Team and the Emergency Management Division.

BACKGROUND & HISTORY:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Program Grant provides funding to assist states and local governments in enhancing and sustaining emergency management capabilities in preparing for all hazards. The sub-grant is administered through the California Office of Emergency Services in cooperation with the Riverside County Operational Area. This has historically been a reoccurring grant, and although it is not guaranteed, we anticipate receiving future allocations.

ANALYSIS:
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security allocates grant funding to local governments to assist in their efforts to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond, and recover from potential terrorist attacks and other hazards.
